Costruire la Pace in Europa: La conferenza europea della Fondazione Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice, co-organizzata dal Chapter del Lussemburgo della Fondazione, in collaborazione con la Segreteria Generale della FCAPP, la Commissione delle Conferenze Episcopali dell'Unione Europea (COMECE), e in partnership con la Luxembourg School of Religion & Society (LSRS), mettendo in evidenza il contributo che il pensiero sociale cattolico offre alla costruzione della pace. “Costruire la Pace in Europa: quale ruolo per il pensiero Sociale Cattolico e i Valori Universali?”, è stato il tema della conferenza che si è svolta venerdì 23 gennaio 2026 presso la Luxembourg School of Religion and Society. Leggi tutto

La conferenza è stata aperta dalla relazione di S.E.R. il Cardinale Jean-Claude Hollerich sj, Arcivescovo di Lussemburgo. Ha visto la presenza di rappresentanti delle Istituzioni europee, delle Chiese cristiane, di esperti del mondo accademico, rappresentanti dei sindacati dei lavoratori, economisti e leader d’impresa. L’evento ha incluso anche il video messaggio della Presidente del Parlamento europeo, Roberta Metsola.

In occasione della Conferenza, il Cardinale Segretario di Stato S.E.R. Pietro Parolin ha fatto giungere ai partecipanti il messaggio del Santo Padre Leone XIV, sottolineando come la Conferenza sia: "Particularly relevant given today's great resistance to discussing the universal values that religion or any belief system may contribute to the common good of society"  e che "It is the Holy Father's confident hope, therefore, that this Conference will make its own contribution to furthering the role of Catholic values in building a more paceful and just European Continent".

Inoltre, in un altro passaggio del Messaggio del Santo Padre, si richiama una indicazione del nostro Fondatore: "Here we recall the words of Saint John Paul in his Encyclical Centesimus Annus that 'no authentic progress is possible without respect for the natural and fundamental right to know the truth and live according to that truth' (CA, 29)". Leggi tutto

INIZIATIVA DI PREGHIERA PER L'UCRAINA

Come prima iniziativa successiva alla Conferenza, i promotori intendono dedicare un momento di preghiera ecumenica e interreligiosa per la pace in Ucraina. L’incontro si svolgerà online il 24 febbraio 2026 alle ore 19.00 (CET). La preghiera sarà presieduta da S.E.R. Cardinale Jean-Claude Hollerich sj, Arcivescovo di  Lussemburgo. Ulteriori informazioni saranno comunicate a breve via e-mail a tutti i membri e agli amici della Fondazione.

La preghiera si lega alle iniziative promosse dalla Rete Mondiale di Preghiera del Papa e si collega in particolare all’intenzione per la pace del gennaio 2026. Ogni mese, infatti, il Santo Padre affida al mondo intero intenzioni che riflettono le sue più profonde preoccupazioni per l’umanità, rivolgendosi a tutti con un invito a tradurre le preghiere in gesti concreti, capaci di generare percorsi di bene. Leggi la preghiera.

Peace Building in Europe: The European Conference of the Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation, co-organized by the Luxembourg Chapter of the Foundation, in cooperation with the CAPPF General Secretariat and the Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union (COMECE), and in partnership with the Luxembourg School of Religion & Society (LSRS), highlighting the contribution that Catholic social thought offers to peace building. “Peace Building in Europe: What Role for Catholic Social Thought and Universal Values?” was the theme of the conference held on Friday, January 23rd, 2026, at the Luxembourg School of Religion and Society. Read more

The conference was opened by a speech from H.E.R. Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich sj, Archbishop of Luxembourg. It was attended by representatives of European institutions, Christian churches, academic experts, trade union representatives, economists, and business leaders. The event also included a video message from the President of the European Parliament, Roberta Metsola.

To mark the Conference, H.E.R. Cardinal Secretary of State Pietro Parolin conveyed to participants a message from Pope Leo XIV, underlining that the Conference is: “Particularly relevant given today's great resistance to discussing the universal values that religion or any belief system may contribute to the common good of society”  and that “It is the Holy Father's confident hope, therefore, that this Conference will make its own contribution to furthering the role of Catholic values in building a more peaceful and just European Continent.”

Furthermore, the Holy Father's message also reminds us of a statement by our Founder: “Here we recall the words of Saint John Paul in his Encyclical Centesimus Annus that ‘no authentic progress is possible without respect for the natural and fundamental right to know the truth and live according to that truth' (29)”. Read more

PRAYER INITIATIVE FOR UKRAINE

As a first initiative following the Conference, the promoters intend to dedicate a moment of ecumenical and interreligious prayer for peace in Ukraine. The meeting will take place online on February 24th, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. (CET). The prayer will be presided by H.E.R. Cardinal Jean-Claude Hollerich sj, Archbishop of Luxembourg. Further details will be communicated shortly by email to all members and friends of the Foundation.

The prayer ties up with the initiatives promoted by the Pope's Worldwide Prayer Network and is linked in particular to the intention for peace in January 2026. Each month, infact, the Holy Father entrusts to the whole world intentions that reflect his deepest concerns for humanity, reaching out to everyone with an invitation to translate prayers into concrete actions capable of generating paths to good. Read the prayer

The International Conference and the General Assembly 2026 of the Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation will be held from 28th to 30th May. The annual Private Audience with the Holy Father will be held at the Palazzo Apostolico on Saturday 30th May, in the morning. Further details will be made available shortly.

The initiative is promoted by FCAPP in cooperation with the Gregorian University and the Institut Catholique de la Méditerranée.
