Cardinal John Henry Newman’s elevation by Pope Leo on All Saints Day 2025 as only the second native-born English Doctor of the Church, and the first in over a thousand years after St Bede (12th century St Anselm was Italian-born) is deeply relevant to Catholic Social Teaching because his thought offers a bridge between the moral crises of the 19th century and those of today. COSTRUTTORI DI PACE - PEACEMAKERS
Ricostruire la Pace in Europa: un seminario organizzato dal Chapter di Lussemburgo della Fondazione Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice, insieme alla Segretaria Generale della Fondazione e alla COMECE (Commissione delle Conferenze Episcopali dell'Unione Europea) con il contributo che il pensiero sociale cattolico offre alla costruzione della Pace. L’evento dal titolo “Ricostruire la Pace in Europa: Quale Ruolo per il Pensiero Sociale Cattolico e i Valori Universali?” si svolgerà venerdì 23 gennaio 2026 presso la Luxembourg School of Religion and Society. Domenica della Memoria: Omelia di Fr Stephen Wang, Rettore del Venerabile Collegio Inglese a Roma. L’omelia per la domenica della Memoria - pronunciata il 9 novembre 2025 da Fr Stephen Wang, Rettore del Venerabile Collegio Inglese a Roma - richiama la preghiera per la pace, invocata per tutte le regioni del mondo segnate da guerre e violenze. Sottolinea come la pace sia il vero centro di questa commemorazione, orientando lo sguardo non al conflitto ma alla sua fine. Ribadisce l’insegnamento della Chiesa, ripreso da Papa Francesco, secondo cui la guerra è sempre una sconfitta. Rebuilding Peace in Europe: A seminar organized by the Luxembourg Chapter of the Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation, together with the General Secretariat of CAPPF and COMECE (The Commission of the Bishops' Conferences of the European Union) with the contribution that Catholic social thought offers to building peace. The event, titled “Rebuilding Peace in Europe: What Role for Catholic Social Thought and Universal Values?”, will take place on Friday, 23rd January 2026, at the Luxembourg School of Religion and Society. Topics such as human rights, solidarity, social justice, reconstruction, and interreligious dialogue will be explored in depth. Read more.

The homily for Remembrance Sunday - delivered on 9th November 2025 by Fr Stephen Wang, Rector of the Venerable English College in Rome - recalls the call to pray for peace, invoked for all regions of the world marked by war and violence. It emphasizes that peace is the true focus of this commemoration, directing our gaze not towards conflict but towards its end. It reaffirms the Church’s teaching, echoed by Pope Francis, that war is always a defeat. Finally, it urges all to do everything possible to prevent conflicts, especially in the face of new and unsettling forms of warfare. Read more

È in fase di lavorazione un nuovo progetto editoriale dal titolo “Pace e dialogo interreligioso nel Mediterraneo. Dalla nuova teologia del Mediterraneo alla Dottrina sociale del dialogo abramitico”. Lo studio intende offrire una riflessione approfondita e interdisciplinare con l’obiettivo di valorizzare la ricchezza teologica e sociale che emerge dall’incontro tra le diverse tradizioni religiose, proponendo un rinnovato sguardo sulla “teologia dal Mediterraneo” come spazio di dialogo, fraternità e cooperazione.

Seventh Edition of the “Economy and Society” Award
The Economy and Society International Award, organized by the Centesimus Annus Pro Pontifice Foundation, celebrated its seventh edition on October 24th, 2025. The award was given to Paolo Benanti for his book "Human in the Loop. Human Decisions and Artificial Intelligence", along with two scholarships awarded to Enrico Frosio and Raman Susha for research on social economics and Christian reflection in the digital age.
